Siemens IT (Paderborn, Germany), ISP/ IT Service Provider [April 2011–December 2012]
Roles: Infrastructure Project Manager, Infrastructure solution architect, consultant
Short project description: Siemens started a large business services (over 1700) optimization program aka as “GAIN” in 2010 for their worldwide business applications platform hosted in different datacentres around the world, which intended to optimize serviceability, reduce maintenance effort (thus cost) and complexity at the same. To achieve this the plan was to use as much as possible standardized software and infrastructure components and limit the number of datacenters to just a few. The project was further subdivided into several domains as e.g. “Industry”. In many occasions installation and interface descriptions and migrations plans needed to be written to be able to disentangle integrations with other business services, and installations needed to be redone.
Objectives: design and migrate (160) Siemens business applications (in sector Industry) from Siemens Datacenters to a GPC datacenter (in Fürth), using standardized, lower maintenance cost managed service software infrastructure components. Approx. 30 Mio GAIN project 50 FTE
